If your problem is caterpillars, this is the best product. Not only does it kill the caterpillars, but it does so without harming the blooms on either million bells or petunias (many other general pesticides that I have used can kill caterpillars, but usually only upon direct contact and most not only totally ruin flower blooms, but also seem prevent blooms for 2 - 4 weeks after use). The problem I have had with neem oil is both the smell (I have many fragrant flowers - neem defeats the purpose) and its relatively poor effectiveness compared to Captain Jacks. The product warns that it is harmful to bees, etc. for 2 - 3 hours, so be careful to time the application (late evening seems to work well for me - no bees or humming birds and many caterpillars feed from dusk on). The product can also be found in a "ready to spray" variety. Remember, the product is for caterpillars - if you have other pests, use a different product.
Update: July 22, 2011 -- First, regarding general use, Captain Jack's is also very effective on "Thrips" (Google "ThripsManagementProgram-February 2011") and somewhat effective on White Flies. Second, while the product does relatively little damage to flower blooms (compared to other products designed to kill pests - see original comments above), it will cause some color fading of blooms with which it makes contact -- particularly those in the bright pink or red range. Geranium blooms seem most affected with Petunia and Million Bell blooms close behind. Still, this is much better than any alternative I have found.
